Ear Surgery (Otoplasty)

Otoplasty (ear pinback) can be performed at any age but may be preferred before a child enters school (age 5-7) to avoid negative impact on social development. The procedure is performed through a hidden incision on the back of the ear. The cartilage is reduced and the ear reshaped. The surgery is usually performed under general anesthesia. After surgery a wrap is placed to hold the ears down and will be removed the following day. A head band may be used for the next week.
